Foskers have had the privilege of selling a number of Ferrari 308 GT4’S over the years and we know these cars very well. We are delighted to offer for sale this example that can only be described as 'an incredible time capsule'.
The 308 GT4 made its first public appearance on the Bertone stand at the 1973 Paris Motor Show and production started shortly thereafter. Like the 246 Dino, the 308 GT4 carried only ‘Dino’ badges throughout the first few years of production. The 308 GT4 was a groundbreaking model for Ferrari in many ways. It was the first Ferrari to be powered by a transversely mounted V8 engine and the first Ferrari designed by Bertone. The 308 GT4 was a great success for Ferrari and almost 3,000 examples were built over six years of production until 1979.
Finished in its original factory colour of Giallo Fly yellow with Nero leather, its rare and desirable combination really enhances the beautiful Bertone designed bodywork. Whilst colour is a personal choice we think the finish of this car is ‘just stunning’. It is vibrant with a strong depth of colour and a high gloss and the interior shows very little sign of wear. The external trim, chrome, wheels and the glass are also in very good condition. Importantly the foam in the seats remains firm and supportive and carpets show minimum wear. The dash and all instruments/controls are also in excellent condition. The engine bay is clean and mechanically the car has been well maintained.
The cars history confirms it to be an original UK delivered car, with factory rear seat delete option, air-conditioning, wider wheel and electric windows.
Supplied new by Lancaster Group Colchester and delivered 07/09/1977 to the first owner Harlow Sheet Metal Co in Essex, this example’s original service book displays the chassis number and warranty card. The multiple service stamps date back to September 1977 when the first 1,000 mile servicewas carried out by Lancasters. The history records contain a wealth of supporting documents for services, cam belt renewals and previous MOT’s corroborating the 33,800 miles on the odometer today.
Well known and maintained by Foskers since May 1996 this Ferrari will come supplied with a new service and MOT for the new owner to enjoy. Hard to find another like this, a truly unique opportunity.
